Panama City Bay superstar Bert Reed had never visited a college campus before this past weekend. The presentation laid out by the Florida staff must have been quite impressive. The wide receiver not only reaffirmed his commitment to the Gators, he took the opportunity to say that a visit to Florida State is no longer on his agenda.

“It was great,” Reed stated. “I was impressed with everything that I saw. They took us to the sports medicine clinic and we talked to the academics people and hung out talking to the players. Everybody there goes out of their way to help you. I couldn’t believe it. They want to make sure you succeed and have everything in place to help you with the academics. I liked the way they get along with each other. It’s a real family atmosphere there. You can tell they’re all real close.”

“I’m still not sure what I’m going to major in, but they have so many things that I would be interested in. That won’t be a problem. I’m not really worried about that right now.”

Freshman All-American Brandon James has proven to be a skilled special teams’ player. The St. Augustine native proved that he has plenty of skills opening the doors of communication and easing the concerns of potential Gators.

“King James was my host,” Reed said laughing. “Brandon James. His user name is King James in NCAA Football (video game). So I just called him King James. We played and I beat him. He had me 21-0, but I came back and beat him in overtime. Who is the King now? Seriously, it was fun.”

“He was a great host,” Reed said. “He is a good guy. We spent some time talking to Jemalle Cornelius and Louis Murphy and they talked about the program.”

“I’m 100% committed,” he said. “I told the coaches that.”

Will he still visit Florida State in January and did the Florida coaches know of the pending visit?

“I won’t be visiting there,” he stated. “I won’t be taking any more visits. I’m not sure if the (Florida) coaches knew I was going to visit Florida State or not. I don’t know about that. I’m done now.”
