Phillips ‘thrilled’ to join Florida Gators

Joker Phillips is excited to join the Florida Gators' football family. The school announced his hiring as receivers coach and recruiting coordinator on Monday afternoon, confirming what sources had told GatorCountry.com earlier in the day.

“I’m thrilled to become part of the Gator family,” Phillips told Gatorzone’s Scott Carter. “I’m looking forward to the opportunity to compete and win at the highest level. I believe in Coach Muschamp’s philosophy and what he has done in his short time here at Florida is phenomenal.”

Phillips was fired Nov. 4 after going 13-24 in three seasons as Kentucky’s head coach. The Wildcats finished this season 0-8 in SEC play this past season. UK named Florida State defensive coordinator Mark Stoops as Phillips’ replacement early last week.
