PD’s Postulations: The Vandy game

Many things could be said about the game against Vanderbilt on Saturday, but the only thing that really needs to be said is, “That was the Vandy game.” No matter that Florida has prevailed now 22-straight games, no matter that the majority of those games were Gators blowouts, there is just always something weird about the Vandy game.

Sometimes it’s the fact that Vanderbilt inexplicably pushes Florida to the final play. Sometimes, like Saturday, it’s the fact that the Gators seem to struggle early and often but still win comfortably. Sometimes, it’s the fact that even when the Gators are rolling the Commodores from the opening kickoff, nothing seems to happen normally.

From the odd appearance of the Commodores’ uniforms to that kooky little Dudley Field (though not as absurd as the basketball team’s Memorial Gym), Vandy is just a weird experience. However, regardless of all this annual abnormality, there is one constant of normalcy: the Gators always win this game.
