PD’s Postulations: Future Implications
With such an incredible football regular season in the books, the temptation to review the Gators football year in thorough minutia is strong. But I will hold off on that exercise for now and peek into the future based on what has happened this year and in fact what is happening — or in some cases not happening — this week.
When using the most recent season to look forward and project the program’s trajectory, the first thing you do is assess what has been done internally to improve against the baseline: has Florida improved in all or most of the phases of the program and the team that in a manner and magnitude that points to a better 2013 and beyond? The second thing to assess is what has happened with the competition: have the other teams in the SEC, in the state and among the national elite or peer group improved or downgraded their positions? Naturally I will look at the last part first and take a quick pulse of the competition against which Florida must improve.
