ShareOrr breaks deferred prosecution agreement
Florida defensive tackle Leon Orr violated the terms of his deferred prosecution agreement for a misdemeanor marijuana charge on Monday when he was charged with knowingly driving with a suspended or revoked driver’s license, a second-degree misdemeanor, according to Alachua County court records.
After his Jan. 11 arrest for misdemeanor marijuana possession, Orr accepted a deferred prosecution agreement two days later.
The redshirt sophomore had to pay $50 in court costs and either pay a $150 fine or serve 12.5 hours of community service. He also had to obey all laws for six months.
According to Alachua County court records, Orr’s Monday citation for knowingly driving with a suspended or revoked license is his second such offense. He has an arraignment scheduled for 1 p.m. on June 6.
He was previously charged with driving with a suspended or revoked license on Feb. 3, 2011. A third conviction carries with it a third-degree felony charge in the state of Florida.
GatorCountry.com was unable to reach a university spokesman for comment.
Orr posted two remorseful tweets on his Twitter account on Tuesday evening.
“First off I wanna apologize to the g nation for this bad publicity , but im being depicted as a criminal of some sort and ive never had,” he wrote in the first, “Hand cuffs put on my wrist or been pictured in a stripe jumpsuit ! I jus wanna help my team win and provide for my family.”

We have had so many of our football players charged with this for many years, can’t we have someone in charge of checking this out similar to the way we check on their class attendance. I know you would expect young adults to be responsible enough to do this themselves, but obviously they are not. Since this can have consequences that affect our level of play and win/loss record I think that we should make this a priorty to be checked on and followed through on by someone in the athletic department administration.
Maybe each player should get a mock arrest article written about them so that they can imagine their friends and family reading it. I wonder if they really understand that they are guaranteed to get in the paper and this will change their lives.
this actually sounds pretty bad. to show complete and total disrespect for the law. It an “I’m above the law” kind of mentality, or lack there of...too bad. Best of luck to him...they all need baby sitters, along with the tutors…
