OFFICIAL: Florida hires Joker Phillips

**UPDATED: Florida announced shortly before 3:30 p.m. that Joker Phillips has been hired as the Gators' next receivers coach and recruiting coordinator.**

Sources close to the program tell GatorCountry.com that Joe “Joker” Phillips will be the next receivers coach for the Florida Gators, confirming a report by the website footballscoop.com.

Florida football coach Will Muschamp interviewed Phillips last week and details of the deal are still being finalized. Sources expect Phillips officially will be hired soon, possibly as early as Monday afternoon.

Phillips went 13-24 in three seasons as head coach at Kentucky before being fired on Nov. 4 after the Wildcats finished SEC play 0-8 this season. Florida State defensive coordinator Mark Stoops was named UK’s new head coach last Tuesday.
