Newcomers impact Gators victory
A fired up Dante Fowler Jr. bounded and bounced his way onto Florida Field for the first time as a Florida Gators football player. Interestingly enough, it appeared the true freshman was the one leading the team onto the field before Florida’s 27-14 win against Bowling Green on Saturday.
Fowler Jr. also was the first of eight Class of 2012 signees to play, entering on the fifth play of the game at the Buck linebacker/end position. By the end of the game, fellow newcomers Antonio Morrison, Damien Jacobs, Jonathan Bullard, Latroy Pittman, Matt Jones, Kent Taylor and DJ Humphries all saw action.
Bullard lined up at end opposite of Fowler Jr. At one point, Bullard, Fowler Jr. and junior college transfer Damien Jacobs were on the field at the same time. Morrison also made an impact linebacker. The quartet certainly is a welcomed addition to the Gators’ defense, and the newcomers are expected to continue contributing more and more as the season progresses.
