New league, new traditions

The Florida Gators athletes and fans carry on a long, proud tradition. This weekend they introduce another proud fan base, the Texas A&M Aggies, to the SEC.

There is quite a bit being made of the Florida Gators’ first foray as conference rivals into what is now former-Big 12 territory.

Not only has the broadcast media seized upon what is sure to be one of — if not the — rowdiest football atmospheres in the country, with ESPN’s College GameDay televising it show live from College Station, but fans and alums on both sides have taken the matters into their owns as well.

After months of debate, “Call Me Maybe” music video parodies and of course far too little actual football, the teams will finally face off this Saturday in what Gators fans are hoping is a rude welcome into the SEC for the Aggies.
