Muschamp, Sturgis win SEC honors

Florida Gators second-year coach Will Muschamp has been named the SEC Co-Coach of the Year. He was joined by Texas A&M’s Kevin Sumlin in winning the award that was voted on by league coaches and announced Wednesday.

Florida kicker Caleb Sturgis also was one of two named the SEC’s Top Special Teams Players of the Year, with South Carolina return specialist Ace Sanders also winning the award.

Muschamp guided his team to No. 3 in the BCS Standings with an 11-1 over record and 7-1 mark in SEC play. The Gators play No. 21 Louisville (9-2) in the Allstate Sugar Bowl in the New Orleans’ Super Dome on Jan. 2.
