ShareLSU still stout sans Honey Badger
A year ago, Tyrann Mathieu was starring for LSU. Earning his nickname, the “Honey Badger” gave the Tigers’ defense speed, playmaking ability and attitude.
Despite his relative lack of size, the 5-foot-9 sophomore earned the Chuck Bednarik Award given to the best defensive player in college football. For the season, he totaled 71 tackles, 1.5 sacks and two interceptions, while also forcing five fumbles (two of which he returned for touchdowns).
When Florida traveled to Baton Rouge, La., on Oct. 8 of last year, Mathieu’s presence was felt in full-effect.
