Key matchups: Florida vs. Kentucky

At 12:21 p.m. on Saturday, the Florida Gators take the field in the midday sunshine – and the heat – of the Swamp for the first time since the team’s opening week victory against Bowling Green. The team split time at quarterback between Jacoby Brissett and Jeff Driskel, and looked about as bad as an SEC team can while still earning a victory. If the squad comes out and lays a dud like that this weekend against the third-best team in the state of Kentucky, the Gators might be in some real danger.

In danger of not winning by 30 or more points, that is.

Before last weekend, Big Blue Nation – better that, the Big Blue Kissin’ Cousins – could have made a case for being capable of ending the Gators’ 25-year winning streak in the series.

Twenty-five years is a long time. Last week, we showed just how long the Gators' now eight-game winning streak against Tennessee really was by explaining how unpopular CDs are in 2012 and how prevalent Facebook is as compared to eight years ago.

The last time Kentucky’s football team beat Florida, Facebook founder and billionaire Mark Zuckerberg was three-years old. He was literally poking people with little baby fingers in real life, not virtually poking people with that weird blue finger-thingy. Seriously, who "pokes" on Facebook? Just call the person.
