ShareJelani Jenkins may return for LSU
Florida football coach Will Muschamp announced the Gators may see a key defensive player return for the team’s biggest game of the season.
Junior weak-side (Will) linebacker Jelani Jenkins is scheduled to have a pin removed from his injured right thumb in “eight days.” Jenkins suffered a fracture during the first series of a 20-17 win at Texas A&M on Sept. 8. The original prognosis had Jenkins missing “4-6 weeks.”
At the time, Muschamp noted how he was hoping it would be closer to the beginning of that time frame when talking about Jenkins' surgery two days after the game. During Wednesday’s SEC Coaches’ Teleconference, Muschamp said he believes Jenkins will be back in time for No. 14 Florida’s game against No. 2 LSU on Oct. 6, which is right at that four-week mark.
