Hammond pulls through for Gators

When Frankie Hammond Jr. initially made a catch with 13:27 left to go in the Florida Gators’ opener on Saturday, it looked as if the Bowling Green defender in his vicinity had him wrapped up. However, as he has done before in his five-year career, Hammond pulled through the tackle and dashed 50 yards to the end zone giving the Gators a desperately needed score.

After an opening performance that left many Gator fans underwhelmed, that play was a somewhat overshadowed bright spot for a player who has gone from being in jeopardy of losing his roster spot at UF to the undisputed veteran leader of the Gators’ receiving corps.
