I heard Steve Addazio’s interview and rant on the video. Does anyone else have concerns? He coaches the line and is OC. The 2008 OL had shifting and injury, too. This OL is, by all reports superior. Tim Tebow also has been sacked 20 times in SEC games, up from 12 a year ago. What the...? As OC, his most overused play was the “dive” up to week 5 and we don’t have a power back (except Moody) and Moody isn’t used in the Red Zone. What the...? The Gators also have scored a touchdown inside the red zone just 30 percent of the time, down from 73 percent last year. It should be Moody, Hernandez, Nelson and Cooper inside the Red Zone. UF is averaging 380 yards per game, 50 fewer than last year. Pass protection (lack of it) is related to sacks. Better pass protection = more yards downfield. We have the talent. We need the right OC to make the right calls consistent with our talent and field position! C’mon Urban!! You need a better OC!! You lost 2 premiere coaches last year- OC and OL coaches replaced by a mediocre one. His talents are not in his current role.
Wide.
Open.
Wooooooooooooooooooo!
You can’t say our guys aren’t being pushed!
yea but this year the offense is so predictable.... they have about fours plays they keep running over and over… something has to change. they talked about the wildcat but we haven’t seen that yet. They talked about going under center and they’ve only done that a few times. I also think the probably is the OC and the play calling.
yes the line can do better, but tebow also can do better by getting rid of the ball when he have a chance instead of taking sacks. I know he’s only trying to make things happen but one thing he doesn’t do that you see other QB’s do is keep his eyes downfield more when he takes off. I like the guy and what he has done, but he has to play smarter also and quit be so predictable himself.
I think they are holding play back for meat of the season. The wild cat shouldn’t be ran by Haden. Yes he can throw the 60yrs. If we lose he! Own secondary would take a hit. Putthomson or demps in there. Just a tought
yea.. that’s what i keep telling myself. that they are waiting until around the end of the season. I know they can do more but it sucks to see them be so play the way they are.... you don’t see the same passion on office as you saw last year. but just like Addazio said, we have different people than last year so you can’t expect the same offense.
Things are pretty fishy when you can’t get a better explanation for why we’ve become the “dive” offense instead of the spread. We opened up or at least mixed the plays better against UGA and I think we’re do the same in Colombia. Ack describes the situation pretty well we he says we’re only short a few big plays per game. I guess we’re saving ‘em for a surprise attack. The receivers are running pretty sloppy routes as if maybe they know the ball isn’t coming their way.James can certainly be a much better receiver than he’s shown. Hpoefully he’s about over the dropsies.
I’ve said this before, but I still think it’s only part play calling and more so Tebow not making good reads. This much as been admitted.
The one thing that can happen with an athlete is the development of bad habits due to a lack of practice. In a sense with the decrease in passing and Tebow so often looking to run the ball even on designed passes, this can lead to a drop off of his ability to make reads.
I think Tebow needs to try to make the big throws a bit more even taking the chance that a few might get intercepted. After a few connections, the confidence increases as will the ability to make those progressions.
He practices making reads longer on one play, long enough to get sacked repeatedly. The wr’s aren’t running sharp routes which frustrates Tebow and them, but the big thing IMO is the number of ballhawks and how good they are. They have the time ability and practice reading QBs. When Eric Berry is on the field any pass is scary. Shortened game makes each possesion more dear. Plays against UF’s strength at spreading the field but that’s the way the game is played and won today. We can’t run against 8 in the box or pass with 5 guys blocking 6.We’ll open things up a little as needed. We’re playing too tight thinking about running the table.
That’s all we got to bitch about. It’s Great to be a Fl. Gator!!!
