ShareGators get true freshman RB going
He’s not the starter, he may not even be the No. 2 running back, but true freshman Matt Jones could make an impact in the Florida Gators’ game at Florida State at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
The Gators (10-1) got Jones going in last Saturday’s 23-0 home win against Jacksonville State. The 6-foot-2, 226-pounder rushed eight times for a career-high 65 yards (8.1 yards per carry) and was not stopped for a loss.
Jones made a quick inside head fake (long dreadlocks and all) before bouncing to the outside for an impressive 18-yard scamper. It was his longest run of the season after a 17-yard burst on his first career carry against Bowling Green in the season opener.
