Gators end JSU’s shutout streak

Florida’s defense made history Saturday in The Swamp.

A pair of missed field goals helped the Florida Gators play bend-but-don’t-break defense during a 23-0 victory against the Jacksonville State Gamecocks at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.

The Gamecocks’ 133-game streak of not being shutout, the nation’s longest by an FCS team, came to a grinding halt against the Gators. The last time Jacksonville State didn't score came against Troy State on Nov. 18, 2000.

It was the Gators’ second shutout this season after blanking Kentucky 38-0 at home on Sept. 22.
