Special moments in sports are the fabric of rare achievement which can sometimes creep in on cat’s feet. Eventually, though, these almost-silent, almost-invisible achievements emerge as bullet points on a resume of greatness. Portraits of that greatness are sometimes painted in faint, repetitive brush strokes that only reveal a work in progress, like the first chisel marks on Mount Rushmore.
