Coaches Corner: Gators vs. Bama’s 3-4 defense

A lot of the talk this week has been about how the Gator offense matches up with Alabama’s 3-4 defense. In order to know how the Gators can attack it, though, it is essential to understand how it works. So far this year, the Gators have seen variations of the 4-3, 4-2-5, and 3-3-5 base schemes, and those all have one thing in common. Each one of those is a single gap scheme. What this means is that each defender in the box is responsible for one gap.
