Caleb Sturgis up for another award

Add another Florida Gators football player to the list of candidates for postseason awards.

Florida kicker Caleb Sturgis was among 147 semifinalists announced Thursday for the William V. Campbell Trophy, annually given to the top football scholar-athlete in the nation.

Sturgis earned his bachelor’s degree in sports management last December and is pursuing a Master’s of Management degree. Candidates for the Campbell Award must possess between a 3.2 and 4.0 GPA. The fifth-year senior maintained a 3.32 GPA in achieving his bachelor’s degree and currently sports a 3.84 in his master’s program. He is on track to earn his master’s in December. Sturgis is a three-time SEC Academic Honor Roll member.
