Will Muschamp is a defensive-minded coach and a perfectionist, but his defense has not been perfect.

That’s why much of the focus during this bye week is “working on Florida,” instead of getting a jump start on preparation work for LSU, the Gators next opponent at 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 6 at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.

While the Gators' defense is allowing just 12.8 points per game, including a 38-0 win against Kentucky on Saturday, Muschamp has not been pleased with his team’s overall attack.

Specifically, the second-year coach who rose through the coaching ranks as a defensive coordinator, wants to see the perimeter run defense shored up. It’s going to be a major point of emphasis during the team’s practices Tuesday and Wednesday.
