ACK: Thoughts from New Orleans

Brady Ackerman  |  January 7, 2008

NEW ORLEANS --- The first time I ever visited New Orleans was with the Gators in 1991 for the Sugar Bowl. I have been back many times since, but what I remember most about that trip was how not to prepare for a bowl game. We waited a long time to be eligible to go to New Orleans and the police even gave each of us a get out of jail free card but we were content on having a good time and playing a weak three-loss team from Notre Dame. It turned out that the Irish were hungrier, motivated and prepared. This is why I always say that you never quite know how a bowl game is going to go because of factors not always visible from the human eye.
