How do you defend the spread? What makes it so difficult to slow down? Defensive coordinators are spending the summer months trying to find those answers for the fall. But is it the system or is it the personnel that make the difference? Urban Meyer once said the players dictate the system you run and he could not be more correct. Florida has the kind of players that fit perfectly in Meyer’s spread option scheme and that is why the Gators are so hard to slow down. Oklahoma has a great system, as does Texas and USC, but the reason all these offenses work is the personnel.
