Ack: Fighting the war of attrition

College football is big business and the schools and coaches often fight the war of attrition in their own programs. Since the 85-scholarship rule was implemented, it has placed a premium on quality kids who can get into to school and stay in school. Instead of automatically redshirting freshmen, coaches are looking for those capable of playing immediately and contributing for four straight years.
