ACK: Carter had tremendous impact
Much has been made about the improvement in the Florida defense from 2007 to 2008 and the national championship. Charlie Strong should have been the coordinator of the year (Frank Broyles Award) and Dan McCarney was certainly the assistant coach of the year. Overall the entire staff deserved credit for motivating, coaching and preparing the defense for a terrific season. Many folks knew the offense would be good but weren’t so sure about the other side of the ball. But guess what? The offense improved over 2007 and they had their own candidate for “Ackerman’s Assistant Coach of the Year.” Who you ask? How about running backs coach Kenny Carter, who in his first year with Florida showed the value in coaching the little things the right way.
