Video: Florida Gators Open First Day of Spring Practice

“Fun First Day.”

That was how Florida Gators head football coach Jim McElwain described the opening of the Gators spring practice.

The first of 15 began just after 3pm on Monday March 16 and lasted just long enough to give players a good idea of what they’ll be dealing with.

“You know, we’re always running around,” said center Cam Dilliard.

“I really like that a lot. Everyone’s getting reps. No one’s standing still. Everyone is moving. It just makes practice quicker.”

That new pace was the biggest surprise for many of the players, offensive especially, but it was balanced out with a palpable energy.

Shouts rang out across the practice fields as units sprinted from one drill to another. The energy carried over with several players as they spoke to the media following practice. All smiles, they updated GatorCountry on the first day of spring ball, what they’re taking away form it and just what they see for the future of the Florida Gators.

Hailing from Alabama in the midst of typical Iron Bowl family, she learned very quickly just how deep ties in the SEC could run. She came to Gainesville after college to pursue a degree as television sports reporter but quickly realized she missed writing. She’s excited to now marry the two aspects for Gator fans.
