The most definitive book in Florida football history just got a lot more definitive. Sports Publishing LLC has announced the release of Buddy Martin’s updated national championship edition of “The Boys From Old Florida: Inside Gator Nation.”

By Sports Publishing LLC

The University of Florida celebrated the centennial season of its storied football program in 2006, capping it off by winning the BCS Championship. In this new softcover edition of his acclaimed book, Martin provides a unique and interesting look at the school’s long journey to gridiron glory.

A limited number of books are available for personal autographing and can be ordered through Buddy by checking the details on Buddy’s web site, http://buddymartin.org and they can also be purchased in most major bookstores, or ordered from the publisher at http://www.sportspublishingllc.com/book.cfm?id=998. Watch GatorCountry.com for details on how you might be able to win your personalized copy.

“In life, football, and journalism, timing is everything; and Buddy Martin has again shown his exquisite timing in the new version of ‘The Boys From Old Florida,’” according to college football guru Tony Barnhart of the Atlanta Journal Constitution. “The perfect way to cap the 100th year of Florida football was with a national championship, and Buddy gives you the inside story as nobody else can.”

Verne Lundquist of CBS said, “The Gators’ winning the 2006 national college championship is one of the most compelling sports accomplishments in recent years. Buddy Martin is unusually qualified to tell that story, which he does, along with many others, in ‘The Boys From Old Florida.’”

Franz Beard of Gator Country called it, “a collection of stories with enough plots and subplots for a soap-opera script.”

The Boys From Old Florida is full of interesting insights and revelations about the legendary Gator program, and is updated to include the amazing 2006 season.

In numerous interviews with storied coaches and players of the past, like Steve Spurrier, Martin sheds light on many subjects that illuminate the past, while also telling much about the present, including Urban Meyer.

It is capped off with a grand epilogue — the championship season and championship game.

Martin is a veteran journalist whose distinguished career has been marked by remarkable versatility and achievement of excellence, from his current post with the Charlotte Sun, to the St. Petersburg Times, New York Daily News and Denver Post. He is the co-creator of the national Sports Journalism Summit at the renowned Poynter Media Institute, regular sports radio commentator in Colorado and Florida, as well as an Emmy award-winner for his work at CBS Sports in the early 1990.
