Mark Stoops Interview Notebook

HOOVER, Ala. — New Kentucky head coach Mark Stoops was second up on day two at SEC Media Days.
We are going to do a quick notebook on what Mark Stoops said during his stop in Hoover, Alabama.

    • Tremendous fan support from the 50,000 fans that showed up for the spring game.
    • Stoops says he feels good about all of the pieces of his new staff but singled out Neal Brown and D.J. Eliot.
    • When asked if Stoops talked to his brother Bob about the comments made about the SEC, he said, I don’t think we need to defend what’s going on in the SEC.
    • No starting quarterback has emerged yet, but three guys are competing for the job.
    • Stoops is trying to branch into Ohio for his recruiting grounds.
    • When bringing in freshman, you have to temper your expectations according to Stoops.
    • Stoops says, yes, Kentucky has a lot of work to do but they will be ready to compete each year.
    • Stoops says he will be in Florida recruiting hard for Kentucky.
    • Very good quarterback depth in the SEC this year according to Stoops.
    • Stoops credits Jimbo Fisher for teaching him how to structure a program.
