After appearing on the preseason watch list, Florida Gators tight end Jordan Reed has made it to the next stage of the John Mackey Award: the “Midseason Watch List.”
The 6-foor-3, 243-pound redshirt junior tight end from New London, Conn., leads the team with 21 receptions for 237 yards and a touchdown this season. He’s caught 11 passes of 10 or more yards and four passes of 20 or more yards, with a season long of 30 yards.
Reed, who also played quarterback early in his career, has 55 career catches for 623 yards and four touchdowns. He led the team with 28 receptions for 307 yards and a pair of touchdowns a year ago.
The John Mackey Award is given annually by the Nassau County Sports Commission to the nation’s top tight end. Semifinalists will be named on Nov. 12, with finalists announced on Nov. 19.
