Jalen Tabor takes New York City

While Jim McElwain goes through the ESPN “Car Wash” in Bristol, Connecticut, junior cornerback Jalen Tabor will be in the Big Apple, having a media day of his own.

Tabor, a preseason All-American, will catch ride up with McElwain on Tuesday morning, stopping in New York City for a tour of the Good Morning America set, a tour set up by former Florida Gators quarterback Jesse Palmer.

“I’m very excited and blessed for this opportunity,” Tabor said in a release. “It’s an honor to represent the Gators and let my voice be heard.”

After the tour of the GMA set, Tabor will visit NFL Headquarters and has interviews set up with Sirius XM and Sports Illustrated before meeting back up with McElwain to fly back to Gainesville.

Tabor wasn’t brought to SEC Media Days last week in Birmingham. McElwain chose to bring two players, Marcus May and Jarrad Davis, that chose to return to Florida for their senior seasons. Tabor, instead, held his own media day, taking fan questions from fans on Twitter and Periscope. Tabor has personality for days, is well spoken in front of a camera and will show off his charisma on Tuesday.

“What you see is what you get,” Maye said at SEC Media Days. “Jalen’s that guy on the field where you’re going to hear, but you’re also going to see him making plays, creating turnovers. He talks, but he’s always there to back it up.”

A South Florida native, Nick developed a passion for all things sports at a very young age. His love for baseball was solidified when he saw Al Leiter’s no-hitter for the Marlins live in May of 1996. He was able to play baseball in college but quickly realized there isn’t much of a market for short, slow outfielders that hit around the Mendoza line. Wanting to continue with sports in some capacity he studied journalism at the University of Central Florida. Nick got his first start in the business as an intern for a website covering all things related to the NFL draft before spending two seasons covering the Florida football team at Bleacher Report. That job led him to GatorCountry. When he isn’t covering Gator sports, Nick enjoys hitting way too many shots on the golf course, attempting to keep up with his favorite t.v. shows and watching the Heat, Dolphins and Marlins.
