INSIDER BRIEF: More injuries pile up for UF

Head Coach Urban Meyer is watching his Florida Gators suffer through a real rash of injuries, especially on the offensive line. As reported earlier on Gator Country, Right Guard Ronnie Wislon went down over the weekend when he broke his anlkle. Wilson will be out for several weeks. Today, two more linemen went down.

In Wilson’s place, Jason Watkins slid over from back up at left tackle. Watkins ended up leaving practice early with an injury. Maurice Hurt, a tryue freshman vying for playing time at left guard also left practice early and both are expected back relatively soon. Meyer already addressed the media earlier today and didn’t hold an interview session after the evening practice, but he did take a moment to mention the two newest injuries.

“Jason Watkins got dinged up a little bit, but he’s fine,” Meyer said. “Maurice Hurt sprained his knee and the Doc says he should be fine.”

Another quarterback protector of sorts, starting fullback Billy Latsko was in a boot at practice and did not participate today.

“Billy Latsko, I am thinking tomorrow (he will be ready)”, Meyer said.

Freshmen wide receivers Percy Harvin and Jarred Fayson have missed a couple of practices the last few days due to injury. Fayson was in a sling earlier this weekend but was not wearing one for his shoulder injusry when practice ended tonight. Harvin and Fayson are expected back soon.

Freshman defensive tackle Terron Sanders was not in any sort of cast or brace after a slight head injury late last week.

Defensive end Javier Estopinan left practice today with a boot on his left foot.
