Gator Country members, now is the time to book your trip to Las Vegas. The Gator Country staff is here to give you some money making predictions on every weekly game across the Top 25 and SEC. The staff will also provide some insider takes on the toughest decisions to make each week.
Be sure to check Gator Country every Thursday this season to see who we like.
Week two is here. After one week of play, Growl (David) is leading the pack with Seth and PD close on his tail.
Nick de la Tore
After falling behind last week, I decided to tip the odds in my favor. I hopped into my Delorean, traveled to 2050 to pick up a sports almanac. These picks are solid, I think.
Andrew Spivey
This week is a little tougher to pick but I have confidence in my picks and I will catch you Growl, don’t worry.
Now, onto my picks, I’m going with Georgia to get back on track against South Carolina and I’m going with Michigan to beat Notre Dame. I almost picked Western Kentucky to beat Tennessee but I’ll stick with the Volunteers this week.
Daniel “DK” Thompson
This is a pretty straight-forward, chalk week. There are not many games on the upset radar, as most top-25 teams are playing their usual cupcake to prepare for conference play.
I think that Florida will defeat Miami by at least 13 points, behind a strong rushing attack and dominant defensive performance. I think Miami’s offense will try to test Florida early, but I cannot see a facet of the Florida defense that would struggle with Miami.
I have Michigan winning by at least 10 over Notre Dame in their last scheduled regular-season match-up planned for the near future. I like the potent combination of Michigan quarterback Devin Gardner and wide receiver Jeremy Gallon.
Finally, I think Georgia will bounce back from their loss at Clemson with at least a seven point win over South Carolina. Georgia will need big games from Aaron Murray, their offensive line, and Todd Gurley who is coming back from a strained quad muscle. I think that they will be hungry, the UGA crowd will be loud, and Aaron Murray will break out of the mold that he doesn’t do well in big games. I like UGA 37-30.
Seth Puglio
Not a whole lot of toss ups this week by the look of it. BYU played Virginia tough in their season opener and I think they’ll surprise Texas up in Utah. Georgia’s defense looked very vulnerable against a great Clemson offense. I expect Aaron Murray to play much better at home then he did last week but i’ll still take South Carolina to quiet the Dawgs once more. I admittedly didn’t catch much of Notre Dame or Michigan during week one but home field should be the difference in this one. I’ll give the Wolverines my nod.
Richard
My –slight– upset special: South Carolina over Georgia. I was very impressed with South Carolina in their win over North Carolina, especially when they ran the ball. In the second quarter of that game they abandoned the run and their offense began to stall. I think they commit to the ground game Saturday afternoon and push around Georgia’s front seven.
Something makes me uneasy about that Texas pick against BYU. Maybe it’s all the snark rolling around the Twitter-verse about Mack Brown’s recruiting practices, maybe it’s the fact that it’s on the road, maybe it’s the fact I’m not sure if Texas has learned to tackle yet since last season. There’s also the fact that Texas was only up seven at halftime against mighty New Mexico State last weekend before pulling away in the second half after they stopped turning the ball over. Still, I picked Texas, so we’ll see.
David “Growl”
Picking Florida over Miami because I think the Gators strength on defense is better than the Canes strength on offense. Also, I believe the Gators weakness on offense (if there is one) is stronger than the Canes being weak on defense.
Gamecocks and Georgia I sort of judge the same way. I believe the Gamecocks are better on defense than UGA is on offense. Also, I just hate the Dawgs.
I did go back and forth on the Kentucky game but I went with the Wildcats because I think they may have just lost to a better team last week and that team will give UT all it can handle this week. A loss by UT will really put the Vols in a spiral that will end any hope they had in 2013. If the Vols win, they will have a mediocre season instead of a bad one.

What an embarrassing game. ….and I’ll be the only one that has the courage to say it – this is on the coaching staff and the QB. I would love to pound the ball up the middle too, but you don’t do it when your behind and averaging 1.6 ypc. If pease can’t get the offense going he should be fired. I’m tired of the young and inexperienced excuse. They’ve been young and inexperienced for 3 years. These are 10 and top 5 classes you bring in each year, if you can’t coach them up then I guess it’s on you. Very disgusted after that display.
