Gators drop in both polls after loss to LSU

Following a 17-6 loss down in America’s boot, the Gators fell in both polls. Florida dropped five spots from No. 17 to No. 22 in the AP poll and from No. 17 to No. 19 in the USA Today Coaches Poll.

The Southeastern Conference added Missouri into the USA Today Coaches Poll top 25 following their upset win over Georgia on Saturday. Mizzou jumped from No. 25 to No. 14 in the AP poll and will host the Gators in Colombia, Missouri next week in a matchup that now holds major SEC East title implications. In a show of strength, the SEC now has eight teams ranked in the AP top 25 poll.

Despite dropping in the polls the Gators still are in the driver’s seat in the SEC. The rest of the  road isn’t easy and the Gators will need to post wins over Missouri, Georgia and South Carolina to punch their ticket to Atlanta but they still control their own fate and that’s a good position to be in.

Nick de la Torre
A South Florida native, Nick developed a passion for all things sports at a very young age. His love for baseball was solidified when he saw Al Leiter’s no-hitter for the Marlins live in May of 1996. He was able to play baseball in college but quickly realized there isn’t much of a market for short, slow outfielders that hit around the Mendoza line. Wanting to continue with sports in some capacity he studied journalism at the University of Central Florida. Nick got his first start in the business as an intern for a website covering all things related to the NFL draft before spending two seasons covering the Florida football team at Bleacher Report. That job led him to GatorCountry. When he isn’t covering Gator sports, Nick enjoys hitting way too many shots on the golf course, attempting to keep up with his favorite t.v. shows and watching the Heat, Dolphins and Marlins.
