Gator football goes under the lights

ORLANDO — Gator fans are anxious for football season to kick off and rightfully so following their impressive 2006 National Championship season. So what’s the inside story on the Gators’ early preparations for the fall? Fans will find out as Sun Sports premieres its 2007 edition of UNDER THE LIGHTS: GATOR SPRING FOOTBALL, hosted by Whit Watson, this Friday, May 11, at 8:30 p.m. (ET) with multiple encore presentations throughout the month.

This one-of-a-kind program gives fans an in-depth look of how the University of Florida begins the process of rebuilding a team.  Unique in its presentation, with players, their families and their coaches interacting both on the field and off, this compelling program lets fans see and hear first-hand how the team progressed during this important three-week period.

In UNDER THE LIGHTS: GATOR SPRING FOOTBALL, Sun Sports cameras are on the practice field, at the Orange and Blue game, in the dorms, and in the hometowns of players meeting families and friends. The show features an in-depth look at players who are being counted on to lead this team, introducing fans to the families who provide the foundation for who these young men are becoming.

Just a few months after winning the BCS title game, the Florida Gators returned to the practice field with a much different look.  Sun Sports follows the Gators as Tim Tebow takes the reins on offense and young players compete for playing time on a defense that lost nine starters. Fans will hear from Percy Harvin on his freshman year and role this fall.  Viewers will also meet new starting center Drew Miller, travel to his hometown of Sarasota and get to know best friends Cornelius Ingram and Derrick Harvey; plus, get a glimpse of life in the Gator dorms from Tebow.

UNDER THE LIGHTS: GATOR SPRING FOOTBALL premieres statewide 5/11, 8:30 p.m., with replays scheduled on Sun Sports 5/12, 7 p.m.; 5/13, 2:30 p.m.; 5/14, 9:30 p.m.; 5/15, 4 p.m.; 5/21, 8 p.m.; 5/28, 12:30 p.m.; 6/3, 2 p.m.; 6/15, 10 p.m.; and 6/20, 9 a.m. (ET).
