We’re back, bigger and better than ever! That’s right, the Gator Country Radio Show is back on the air, teaming with old friends at ESPN Radio 900 Ocala (WMOP) and ESPN Radio 1230 Gainesville (1230 AM) to bring you sports talk with a decidedly Gator slant. Starting Wednesday, Gator Country Radio will be THE place to be from 8-10 a.m. Monday through Friday.

If you aren’t living in the Gainesville-Ocala area, don’t worry. Gator Country will be linking the show to http://www.floridasportstalk.com where you can listen wherever you have an internet connection. Too busy in the morning? We’ll be archiving every show so you don’t have to miss a thing.

“The Gator Country Radio Show is an idea we’ve had for a long time and now we have a great home base to bring you a show that we believe will be the way you want to start your morning,” said Gator Country publisher Ray Hines. “We’re teaming with our good friends at Florida Sports Talk Radio to bring you a show that will keep you on the cutting edge of the best athletic program in the country. If you love the Florida Gators, then the Gator Country Radio Show is must listening every day, Monday through Friday.”

Gordon Smith, owner of Florida SportsTalk and the radio station, said: “ESPN Sports Radio AM 900-AM-1230 is looking forward to a new partnership with Gator Country to broaden our coverage of college and high school sports in North Central Florida.  Show host Mark McLeod and guests will bring a new perspective to our audience and members of Gator Country. For the avid sports fan, it cannot get any better than this.”

Gator Country’s Mark McLeod will be the host of the fastest, most Gator-packed two hours on the radio with a format that promises to touch all the bases. It’s football season so naturally Gator football is going to take up a fair share of the show, but Mark isn’t going to neglect Gator basketball or all the other outstanding Gator sports. We’ll have expert analysis and plenty of interviews from players and coaches from every Gator sport. Our “Where Are They Now” segments will be bringing back Gator greats so you can find out where they are and what they’re doing. Of course, we won’t neglect our fans! There will be time for call-in and feedback from you, too!

“A partnership with the leaders in sports talk radio in the Gainesville/Ocala markets is a natural fit for us because of our unique ability to cover the gators,” McLeod said. “We’re looking forward to working with Gordon and his team on a daily basis. The ties that we both have with ESPN, the leader in sports programming is an obvious benefit. We have a great staff at Gator Country who can deliver the most comprehensive news from the Florida program as well as high school sports both locally and statewide to the north Florida listening audience. We promise to entertain as well. We’re looking forward to this opportunity.”

Mark will be joined by Gator Country’s outstanding staff on a daily basis. We’ll have Franz Beard talking football along with basketball and basketball recruiting. Hollywood Bob Redman will bring his unique football analysis and football recruiting insights. Tim Casey, our outstanding photographer, is also one of the closest to the Florida baseball program. He’ll be teaming up with Mark in the studio on a regular basis.

You can also expect Gator Country Radio to take advantage of our affiliation with ESPN. Look for us to bring in some of ESPN’s hard-hitting lineup of writers, radio and TV hosts and analysts to give you plenty of national and regional perspectives.

We’ll have a lot of fun and plenty of surprises. So set your dial for ESPN Radio 900 in Ocala and ESPN Radio 1230 in Gainesville or http://www.floridasportstalk.com on the internet for the Gator Country Radio Show for the fastest two hours of sports talk with a decidedly Gator slant.
