Florida Gators Sport Report and Nostalgia for September 6th

Good morning Florida Gator fans! It is indeed great to have the excitement return to Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. While there are certain things to keep in perspective and the opponent, there was also stats, like penalty yards, which we did as well as I can remember.

I will write more about the game later, but first.

Florida Gators in the past!

The Gators have played five games on September 6th over the years. Their record in 3-2 with both losses coming against the Miami Hurricanes.

One of the strange notes is that this is the first time that we are dealing with the second game of the season. Everything from August 30-Sepember 5 were all games we opened the season with.
Besides Miami we had games against Central and Eastern Michigan teams. We won those two games 80-6 (1997) and 65-0 last season (2014).

We lost to Miami 23-15 in 1986 and 33-38 in 2003 which did not endear Coach Ron Zook to the fans of the University of Florida.

The win came in 2008 when Tim Tebow led the Gators to a 26-3 win. The Miami win was a game in which we scored 17 points in the final quarter to give us that lead. Tim had over 300 yards of total offense.

Florida Gators yesterday

Besides the big win in The Swamp yesterday the Florida Gators volleyball squad defeated the Texas Longhorns in Austin, TX, 3-1.

Last year the Gators faced ten ranked opponents going with a record of 7-3. So far this season the Gators are 2-0 against ranked team.

The volleyball team is 4-0 while Texas fell to 4-1.

Some notes about the Florida Gators football team.

  • Florida has won its last 26 season openers—which, with Nebraska’s loss earlier today, is now the longest active streak.
  • Five different Gators scored their first touchdown tonight (Cronkrite, Grier, Lewis, Scarlett, C.J. Worton
  • Florida went 10-15 (.667) on third downs and went a perfect 8-8 in the red zone
  • On the second completion of his career, Will Grier notched his first career touchdown pass

Whether you’ve got your own teeth or not keep smiling everybody.
