Clay Matvick, Kevin Carter and former Florida wide receiver Chris Doering are on the call.

What will the format be?
On Monday Jim McElwain affirmed that, despite some injuries, the Gators would have a full spring game consisting of four 12-minute quarters.

“It’s become a made-for-television event, so we’ve got two hours — actually an hour and 57 minutes to get everything in,” McElwain said Monday. “We’ll do our best to trip that time frame.”

It will largely be the first team offense vs., the second team defense and McElwain also plans to get situational aspects of the game worked on.

5 storylines
• Quarterbacks – Jim McElwain said the quarterback situation was sorting itself out and that we “would see” that on Friday. My popcorn is ready.
• DBU? – The Gators are tasked with replacing Marcus Maye, Jalen Tabor and Quincy Wilson in the secondary. How will veterans Nick Washington, Marcell Harris and Duke Dawson lead? Which young players will step up?
• Early enrollees – Florida welcomed five new players this spring, what will we see from them Friday night?
• Offensive line – The Gators have settled on left tackle (Martez Ivey), center (T.J. McCoy) and right tackle (Jawaan Taylor), but are looking for two guards.
• Defensive line – The Gators are looking for someone to step up and be the pass rusher Florida lacked last season as well as improvement from veterans Taven Bryan and Khairi Clark inside.

Nick de la Torre
A South Florida native, Nick developed a passion for all things sports at a very young age. His love for baseball was solidified when he saw Al Leiter’s no-hitter for the Marlins live in May of 1996. He was able to play baseball in college but quickly realized there isn’t much of a market for short, slow outfielders that hit around the Mendoza line. Wanting to continue with sports in some capacity he studied journalism at the University of Central Florida. Nick got his first start in the business as an intern for a website covering all things related to the NFL draft before spending two seasons covering the Florida football team at Bleacher Report. That job led him to GatorCountry. When he isn’t covering Gator sports, Nick enjoys hitting way too many shots on the golf course, attempting to keep up with his favorite t.v. shows and watching the Heat, Dolphins and Marlins.
