Blakely to undergo surgery

Freshman running back Mike Blakely will undergo shoulder surgery on Wednesday. Blakely, who just enrolled in classes on Jan. 10, will miss spring practices but is expected to back for the fall.

The 5-foot-9, 194-pound Blakely missed a portion of his senior season with a foot injury and played through the shoulder injury during a portion of the season.

Blakely is expected to be the lone running back in the 2011 class. He is ranked as the No. 6 running back in the country according to ESPNU and the No. 69th player overall.

Florida will enter spring with only Mike Gillislee, Chris Rainey, and Mack Brown at running back. Jeff Demps is expected to miss spring football because of track.

The extent of his shoulder injury is unknown.
