2012 Florida Gators Football Schedule

The Southeastern Conference announced the 2012 SEC football schedule on Wednesday, and the Florida Gators will face the two new additions to the conference next season.

The Gators will play on the road twice in the first three games before returning home for five of their last six, with an “away” game against Georgia in Jacksonville. Florida will be at home for the entire month of November.

Below is the complete 2012 Florida Gators football schedule, with some notes on each team based on its 2011 season.

Week 1 – Bowling Green
Date 2011 Overview
Sept. 1 (5-7, 3-5 MAC) Bowling Green began the season 3-1 but finished just 2-6. The Falcons recorded their biggest win of the season in late October with a 13-10 win over Temple, who finished the season 9-4. Bowling Green lost to then-No. 22 West Virginia 55-10.
Week 2 – @ Texas A&M
Date 2011 Overview
Sept. 8 (6-6, 4-5 Big 12) Texas A&M played one of the toughest schedules in the country, with six games against teams ranked in the Top 25 when they played. The Aggies lost five of those games, including four of the last five games of the season. Texas A&M picked up its biggest win of the season in mid-October against then-No. 20 Baylor.
Week 3 – @ Tennessee
Date 2011 Overview
Sept. 15 (5-7, 1-7 SEC) Tennessee started the season 3-1 with its lone loss to Florida, but the Vols finished just 2-6. The Vols ended one of the nation’s longest winning streaks by falling to Kentucky, while narrowly escaping with an overtime win over Vanderbilt. The Vanderbilt win in mid-November was Tennessee’s best win.
Week 4 – Kentucky

Sept. 22 (5-7, 2-6 SEC) Kentucky faced a murderer’s row early in the season, losing four straight games, three to teams ranked in the Top 20. The Wildcats finished the season on a strong not,e picking up a big win over Tennessee 10-7.
Week 5 – Bye
Date Overview
Sept. 29 Florida’s bye comes earlier in the season than the Gators are used to. Florida won’t have the luxury of an off week before playing one of its biggest rivalry games against Georgia, but the timing is pretty good. The Gators will get the chance to recover from an early-season road stretch that includes Texas A&M and Tennessee before hosting LSU.
Week 6 – LSU
Date 2011 Overview
Oct. 6 (13-0, 8-0 SEC) LSU cruised through one of the nation’s toughest schedules, winning out despite playing eight teams ranked in the Top 25. The Tigers picked up their biggest win of the season with a 9-6 road triumph at then-No. 2 Alabama. LSU will play Alabama again for the BCS title in a little more than a week.
Week 7 – @ Vanderbilt
Date 2011 Overview
Oct. 13 (6-6, 2-6 SEC) Vanderbilt started the season 3-0 before finishing 3-6. New coach James Franklin had the Commodores competing with some tough teams, coming up just shy at then-No. 10 Arkansas and playing Florida close in Gainesville. The Commodores picked up their best win with a 41-7 drubbing of Wake Forest.
Week 8 – South Carolina

Oct. 20 (10-2, 6-2 SEC) The Gamecocks put together three winning streaks of at least three games, dropping a close game to Auburn and a game to then-No. 7 Arkansas en route to one of the school’s best seasons in history. South Carolina will look to complete the year with a win over No. 20 Nebraska in the Capital One Bowl.
Week 9 – @ Georgia (Jacksonville)
Date 2011 Overview
Oct. 27 (10-3, 7-1 SEC) After losing their first two games, the Bulldogs ripped off 10 straight wins before falling to LSU in the SEC Championship Game. Georgia picked up its biggest win with a 45-7 demolition of Auburn. All three of Georgia’s losses were to teams ranked in the Top 12.
Week 10 – Missouri
Date 2011 Overview
Nov. 3 (8-5, 5-4 Big 12) The Tigers started off just 3-4, but finished the year with five wins in their last six outings. Missouri won four straight to end the year, including a 41-24 win over UNC in the Independence Bowl. Every team Missouri lost to was ranked at one point in the season, and the Tigers picked up wins against then-No. 16 Texas A&M and then-No. 16 Texas.
Week 11 – UL-Lafayette
Date 2011 Overview
Nov. 10 (9-4, 6-2 Sun Belt) The Ragin’ Cajuns began the season 6-1 before finishing 2-3 to close the regular season. ULL knocked off San Diego State in the New Orleans Bowl. The Ragin’ Cajuns picked up their best win against Florida International, while narrowly losing to Arizona.
Week 12 – Jacksonville State
Date 2011 Overview
Nov. 17 (7-4, 6-2 OVC) The Gamecocks began the season 5-1 before finishing 2-3. Jacksonville State ended the season on a two-game winning streak, but their best win came against Murray State.
Week 13 – @ Florida State
Date 2011 Overview
Nov. 24 (8-4, 5-3 ACC) The Seminoles dropped three straight games early in the season but rebounded to finish with a 6-1 record in their final seven games. Florida State picked up its biggest wins against N.C. State, Miami and Florida in the second half of the season.
