Unije loves everything about Florida: Florida Gators recruiting

The Florida Gators recruiting visitors list was a decent one for Saturday’s homecoming game against Missouri in the Swamp.

2018 offensive lineman Reuben Unije (6-5, 290, Bradenton, FL. IMG) was one of those guys in attendance and he was impressed by everything the Gators did on the field.

“I really like Florida, it was a good visit,” Unije said of his first visit to Florida. “The way they dominated, was beautiful and amazing. They didn’t let up and the offensive line did good against a good Missouri defensive line. The defense is a good defense.”

Several Florida Gators coaches spoke with the offensive lineman before and after the game and the message was generally the same from all of them.

“They want me to come here, they want me to commit,” he said of Florida’s message. “They said that I’m going to get early playing time and that I’m a top priority for them.”

While watching the game Unije observed that several young offensive linemen played and he sees that opportunity.

“Martez [Ivey] and Fredrick [Johnson] got in and they’re young guys,” Unije said on if he notices the young guys playing. “They did really good and yes, I see that the young guys get to play early.”

Offensive line coach Mike Summers has been working on Unije for a little over a year now and the relationship is building into a strong one.

“My relationship with Coach Summers is good, we talk every week,” Unije said of his relationship with Florida. “They’re making me a priority and they’re making a few guys a priority in my class. “

This is the third trip to Florida since this summer for Unije and he explained why he continues to return to Gainesville.

“I really love everything about Florida,” he said. “That’s kind of why I come back each time because the coaches, players and assistants and the whole vibe up here is like home. I feel like I’m at home when I’m up here.”

Despite the glowing review of Florida, Unije says he doesn’t have a leader but does know what he’s looking for a in a school.

“I just like the schools that recruit me the hardest,” Unije said. “I’ve always been told that you will know where you want to go when you visit that place multiple times and it feels like home. So when I know I will commit.”

INSIDERS TAKE: The Gators have really jumped out to an early lead on Unije as they continue to get the offensive lineman back on campus. Florida now just has to get the lineman to continue to come back until he commits.
