Tallahassee prospect enjoys Florida visit

Lincoln High School in Tallahassee is known for producing top talent and the Gators have done well there in the past.

The next top prospect to come out of Lincoln is 2015 Tallahassee (Fla.) Lincoln receiver John Burt, who recently picked up a Florida offer.

“It was pretty cool to have coach (Will) Muschamp offer me a scholarship,” Burt said. “I wasn’t really expecting the offer so when he told me he was offering me, I was surprised to get it.”

The 6-foot-4, 175-pound Burt recently visited Florida for Friday Night Lights and feels he performed well.

“I feel I did pretty good out there,” Burt said. “I feel like I did the best I possibly could out there at the camp. The coaches were real informative and they seemed like they knew there stuff really well.”

The atmosphere at Florida is something all prospects talk about and Burt is no exception.

“It was pretty cool to be under the lights with the music and the highlights playing on the screen in the background,” Burt said. “I liked the atmosphere around the campus.”

During the camp, the highly rated receiver had a chance to meet and work with new receiver coach Joker Phillips.

“Coach Phillips seems like a pretty nice guy,” Burt said. “He is pretty football smart and he really knows his stuff. He lets you know what you’re doing wrong and points it out to you so you can get better at it. He helped me out a lot.”

Being from Tallahassee, you would expect Burt to have grown up a Florida State fan but he says he heard a lot about the Gators.

“Me being in Florida, you kind of hear about the Gators a lot,” Burt said. “I have heard a lot great stuff about the program and I like them and how they win a lot of games. Coach Muschamp seems like a good coach too.”

Burt says that right now he doesn’t have a leader but he is trying to work out a list of visits for this fall, including one to Florida.

Burt says he may also visit Miami for the Florida game this September.
