Stone Forsythe sees new energy around the Florida Gators

Florida Gators offensive line commit Stone Forsythe (6-7, 331, Winter Garden, FL West Orange) was one of the many commits on hand Saturday night to watch the Gators beat New Mexico State.

“The visit was pretty good, [I] got to see the game, the new indoor and the new facilities,” Forsythe said. “I got to talk to the coaches after the game and the atmosphere was good. It was a lot different than last year, something was different and they were excited. The coaches were excited and had a lot of energy.”

Forsythe, who was a frequent visitor to watch the Florida Gators play last year, noticed a different feel around the Swamp on Saturday and it was a good feeling.

“The coaches seem like they’re more excited to be out there at Florida,” he said of the new energy. “They are more involved with the players and just seem to have more energy this year on the field.”

Like most of the Florida Gators commits, Forsythe was focused on watching how the offense would do in a game and he walked away impressed.

“The offense was pretty good, they were moving the ball all night,” Forsythe said. “They were throwing the ball deep a little and they were passing the ball. Overall the offense moved the ball. The offensive line was pretty despite losing people from last year.”

Offensive line coach Mike Summers has been the lead recruiter for Forsythe and the two got to talk a little after Saturday’s game.

“Coach Summers just keeps saying that he can’t wait for me to get up there,” he said. “I told him just a couple more months and he said that he’s excited to have me and that he likes me at tackle or guard. He worked me at tackle during the camp this summer though.”

Forsythe also go the chance to talk to head coach Jim McElwain and offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier and they both were really excited to see him in the Swamp again.

“Coach McElwain and Coach Nussmeier both talk to me a lot and say they can’t wait for me to get up there,” Forsythe said. “They say they can’t wait to get to work with me and get me around the team. They think I can help them out.”

The offensive line commit spent a lot of time around the other commits in attendance on Saturday and he says that they are becoming a close-knit group.

“It’s good to be around those other commits, I’ve hung out with them a little bit,” he said. “We’re building a family like atmosphere and I tell them that I’m solid to Florida.”

INSIDERS TAKE: Forsythe said that he plans to take an official visit during the season if he can because he’s enrolling early at Florida in January. Forsythe is solid to the Florida Gators.
