RECRUITING: James Scott commits to UF

Daytona Beach Seabreeze star cornerback James Scott told hundreds of people at his high school banquet tonight that he is going to play college football at the University of Florida. The four-star cornerback, who plays with the intensity of a pit bull, makes an outstanding addition to a growing and strong recruiting class.

James Scott excels in all areas of the field as he plays some wide receiver, some running back, and has an excellent ability at returning kicks. The 5-10, 165 pound Scott is possibly the most aggressive cornerback in the nation and plays the position with authority and he helps the Gators fill a need at that position.

Scott plays a lot of cover three defense, but he looks more comfortable playing man coming up to the line and pressing some to throw off the rhythm of the receiver. Works well over top and comes under to make the quick knockdown with the ability to change gears quickly and close ground.

He is a very solid tackler and could play safety when necessary in college with combination of size, tackling, and zone play. Sees the field well, has good anticipation, and has a high football IQ.

Scott becomes the 21st commitment for the Florida Gators, whose Class of 2007 currently ranks second nationally in Scout.com’s team recruiting rankings.
