RECRUITING: Auguste still likes the Gators

Akeem Auguste one of the top cornerbacks in the state, is focused on his high school team which is currently 5-1 on the season. Yet, Auguste still has time to watch the Gators on national television and liked what he saw last night.

“We’re playing a good season. We’re 5-1 right now. We just beat North Miami Beach last Friday night. It was 24-14.”

“I’m really focused on my school work right now and just trying to get my grades in order. I’m hearing from a lot of schools, and haven’t eliminated any. I wouldn’t say I have favorites right now, but I’d like to see Florida, Florida State, and South Carolina.”

Florida: “I haven’t heard from them too much lately, but I like the coaches a lot. They’re playing well this year. I got to watch them play LSU yesterday on TV. They played a great game and the defense was good.”

Florida State: “I’ve liked their defense for a while and could see myself playing in the system.”

South Carolina: “I like their depth chart and think I could come in and play early for them.”

Most schools are looking at Auguste at the same position, with some offering a chance to show off his playmaking ability in more than one way. “Almost every school is looking at me as a cornerback. Some are talking about my doing kick returns too.”

The 5’11”, 175 pound cornerback is not in a hurry to decide where he will play football. “I really don’t have a timetable on my decision. I’m just going to see what happens. My team now needs to finish well. I’ll probably take my official visits after the season is over.”
