Florida Gators Recruiting Mailbag

Q.) Now that we have Quincy Wilson committed to us for next year, Who else are we looking at for safety?

A.) Jamal Adams is the only other safety prospect on the board and I like Florida’s chances of landing him.

Q.) Has the Miami game changed our board at all? ie. our coaches see a greater need at certain positions (say, TE) so they are willing to take lower ranked prospects at that position to build some more depth?

A.) Depth isn’t an issue with this team, it’s about having the right players and talented players. The board hasn’t changed much if at any.

Q.) Did the Miami game affect recruiting at all? I’m guessing coaches will just say “you can contribute earlier now”.

A.) That’s correct, I don’t see one game having much effect on anything.

Q.) Any new news on bigger targets? (Adoree Jackson, McMillan, D. Hand, J. Adams, etc?)

A.) Da’Shawn Hand will be in town for the Arkansas game, Raekwon McMillan for the FSU game and Jamal Adams for the Tennessee game.

Q.) We need some big uglies on the defensive and offensive line, who are the recruits we are looking at and what are our chances of getting them?

A.) David Sharpe and Jordan Sims are the top two on the offensive line board and right now Florida has work to do there. On the defensive line the main target right now is Lorenzo Carter.

Q.) How many more WRs do you think will be in this class and who will they be?

A.) Two, and right now I would say Ermon Lane and Travis Rudolph. Despite Rudolph cooling on Florida, I still think the Gators can land him.

Q.) Do you think Carter will be in this class? If we miss on Carter, who do you think we will get instead as a BUCK?

A.) If Florida misses on Carter then I believe they will just wait until next year for another BUCK prospect. Right now, I lean towards Carter not being a Gator.

Q.) How are things looking with Knox? Will he remain in this class?

A.) Nope, as he decommitted on Tuesday night.

Q.) I know recruits look at what’s going on now with the offense but what are the recruits saying he is telling them? What is our class looking like with uncommitted prospects?

A.) Things are going smooth with uncommitted prospects right now as the Gators just continue to recruit them and keep trying to get them on visits.

Q.) Does Texas firing their defense coordinator help us with Jamal Adams?

A.) Yes, it does, but Texas was never really a threat in my opinon. A&M is more of threat then Texas.

Q.) If things go well against Tennessee next weekend, do you see someone committing?

A.) I don’t think you will see a 2014 prospect commit but a 2015 prospect could pop, yes.

Q.) Are we looking for anymore running backs in this class? I know Cook is a great player. I think we could use at least one more. You can never have too many horses in the stable.

A.) Florida is continuing to recruit Bo Scarbrough and Joe Mixon but they are OK with taking just one running back this year.

Q.) AS, TOS has reported a couple of our current commits taking a visit down south. Do you know who they are referring to?

A.) Probably Ermon Lane but he has always said he would take a visit to Miami.

Q.) David Sharpe is starting to look like he is going elsewhere and Damian Prince is a long shot, what other offensive lineman are we seriously after? Any in the JUCO ranks?

A.) Jordan Sims is another name to remember and yes, Florida is looking in the JUCO ranks but nothing big is happening there as of now.

Q.) Is there a chance we can turn Isaiah Wynn from St. Pete to the goods guys or has that ship sailed?

A.) That ship has sailed in my opinion as he says he won’t even visit Florida.

Q.) Is Riley Gibons from St. Pete a possibility?

A.) No, he isn’t.
