Prep recap: week 10

Every Monday Gator Country presents the Prep Rewind with scores and stats that from the weekend’s high school games that involved Florida commitments and targets.

Here are the stats and scores from the past weekend:

Philadelphia (PA.) Martin Luther King offensive lineman Dontae Angus (6-6, 330)

Results: MLK notched its eighth win of the season by beating Benjamin Franklin, 30-14.

Stats: Angus had a tackle in the win.

Casper (WY.) Natrona County defensive end Taven Bryan (6-5, 250)

Results: Natrona County moved to 6-3 on the year with a 56-0 win over Rock Springs.

Stats: N/A

Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade Madonna defensive tackle Khairi Clark (6-2, 325)

Results: Chaminade Madonna picked up its first win of the year by defeating Inlet Grove, 46-7.

Stats: Clark didn’t play in the game.

Miami (Fla.) Central running back Dalvin Cook (5-11, 192)

Results: Central defeated Carol City, 48-14, after being down 14-0 in the first quarter.

Stats: Cook had 108 yards on just 11 carries and added two touchdowns in the win.

Cross City (Fla.) Dixie County cornerback Duke Dawson (5-11, 195)

Results: Dixie County defeated Newberry, 51-11, and is in a tie for the district lead.

Stats: Dawson had a pass breakup in the win.

Jacksonville (Fla.) Raines offensive lineman Travaris Dorsey (6-3, 314)

Results: Raines defeated West Nassau 47-28 to move to 6-2 on the year.

Stats: N/A

Davidson (N.C.) Day quarterback Will Grier (6-2, 177)

Results: Davidson Day lost for the first time last Friday to Latin, 23-21.

Stats: Grier threw for 241 yards and touchdowns but was also picked off three times in the game.

Immokalee (Fla.) High cornerback J.C. Jackson (5-10, 175)

Results: Immokalee had a bye week.

Stats: N/A

Mount Pleasant (S.C.) Wando offensive lineman Nolan Kelleher (6-6, 285)

Results: Wando lost to Goose Creek, 49-21, to fall to 3-6 on the year.

Stats: N/A

Plantation (Fla.) High cornerback Chris Lammons (5-9, 168)

Results: Plantation defeated Oakland Park, 26-12, on Friday.

Stats: Lammons had a 95-yard interception return for a touchdown and also had a rushing touchdown.

Homestead (Fla.) High receiver Ermon Lane (6-2, 172)

Results: Homestead defeated Edison, 36-0, last week.

Stats: Lane had two receiving touchdowns and also had a rushing touchdown.

Tuscaloosa (Al.) Kingwood Christian tight end C’yontai Lewis (6-5, 212)

Results: Kingwood Christian fell victim to Tuscaloosa Academy, 47-0

Stats: Lewis had five catches for 42 yards and also had an interception in the loss.

Clearwater (Fla.) Central Catholic defensive end Justus Reed (6-3, 215)

Results: Central Catholic defeated Admiral Farragut, 44-3, to move to 7-1 on the year.

Stats: Reed had six tackles in the win.

Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) University cornerback Quincy Wilson (6-2, 195)

Results: University School fell to Manatee, 28-24, in a last second, drama-filled game.

Stats: Wilson had a pass breakup in the loss.

Andrew always knew he wanted to be involved with sports in some capacity. He began by coaching high school football for six years before deciding to pursue a career in journalism. While coaching, he was a part of two state semifinal teams in the state of Alabama. Given his past coaching experience, he figured covering recruiting would be a perfect fit. He began his career as an intern for Rivals.com, covering University of Florida football recruiting. After interning with Rivals for six months, he joined the Gator Country family as a recruiting analyst.
