Nixon impressed by Florida’s offense

It’s no secret that the Florida Gators need to bring in some playmakers via the 2016 recruiting class. With two prospects already committed Florida is on the right track but still need to go after more receivers and that’s just what they did last week.

Receiver Tre Nixon (6-1, 188, Viera, FL High)  finally got a chance to meet all of the coaches that he has been communicating with over the past few months when the receiver visited the Gainesville campus.

“It went good, I was there for a whole day,” Nixon said. “I got a chance to go up there and meet the coaching staff, and pretty much put names with some faces. I also got a tour of the campus and the facilities and before I left I got to watch the spring practice.”

Nixon, who is considered one of the fastest players in the state of Florida, is looking to see how Jim McElwain’s offense will be this year and he got a good look at that last week.

“I was very impressed by how they were spread the ball around on offense,” Nixon said. “They were putting their playmakers in space to make plays and that was something that caught my eye.”

New receivers coach Kerry Dixon has caught a lot of prospects’ attention when his personality. Nixon got a chance to see that personality for himself and he echoes those sentiments.

“I really liked coach Dixon, he seems like a very cool and laid back coach but he can get on you when he needs too,” Nixon said. “We got to talk a little bit and he pretty much just let me know he needs speed up there in Gainesville and that I was a priority to him.”

Nixon has stayed away from naming leaders but he did admit that Florida answered some of his questions last week.

“This visit did help Florida out,” Nixon said. “My biggest question mark was the new staff and the visit showed that I do like the staff a lot. I’m planning on taking more visits before I narrow down my list though.”

INSIDERS TAKE: Nixon is a slot guy that Florida has really been missing on offense over the last few years and the Gators will only be able to help their cause this season on the field.
