Miami commit set to visit the Florida Gators

This past weekend the Florida Gators only hosted a few prospects for the game against Eastern Michigan but that should change this week as they open SEC play against Kentucky.

One visitor that has said he will be in attendance on Saturday is Miami running back Jordan Cronkrite (5-11, 199, Palmetto Bay, FL Westminster Christian) who said he was invited by one of the Florida Gators coaches.

“I’m going to be visiting Florida this weekend for the game against Kentucky,” Cronkrite said. “Coach [Brian] White just told me he wanted me to get up there for the game so I could get more familiar with some of the coaches and to see some of the players.”

Not only is White recruiting Cronkrite but he’s also recruiting the running backs father with a simple message to the two of them.

“I’m hearing a lot and my dad is hearing a lot from Coach White,” Cronkrite said. “Coach White just tells me that he wants me and that he wants me to watch the new offense closely.  He says that he can use me in a lot of different ways like at running back and at slot receiver.”

Saturday the Florida Gators put on a show on offense by racking up 65 points but Cronkrite didn’t get a chance to see the game but he definitely caught wind of the high octane performance.

“I didn’t get a chance to watch the game but I heard a lot of good things about the game and the offense,” Cronkrite said. “I think it’s going to be a good offense and a offense that I can fit into. I feel like if I go there then I would be comfortable there because it’s pretty much the same offense as my high school.”

Cronkrite has been committed to Miami since April but three schools are giving him something to think about and he has an official set up to another school.

“Florida, Notre Dame and Louisville are all recruiting me hard,” Cronkrite said. “I know I’m going to visit Florida this weekend and then I have an official to West Virginia for November first.”

Despite Cronkrite being one of four running backs committed to Miami the running back hasn’t heard from the Canes in awhile and his status is up in the air with them.

“I don’t know really,” Cronkrite said when asked about his commitment status to Miami. “As of right I don’t have any plans to visit them and I haven’t heard from them lately. I guess it’s because of the season starting.”

INSIDER TAKE: I feel like Florida has a great shot at flipping Cronkrite and you can tell in his voice that he was upset about the recent actions of Miami. The Gators need a good visit this weekend for Cronkrite and his father.

  1. I didn’t think Miami was going to be able to keep all four running backs. It sounds like they have realized that it’s not a good decision to take so many in the first place. It sounds like the one they’ve decided to cull from the group is Cronkite. That doesn’t mean he’s not a keeper, just that it’s probably not prudent to take four running backs in one class, especially if they’re not amenable to switching positions, like becoming a defensive back. This type of thing happens all the time, a recruit gets the hint when the coaches stop calling. It’ll be interesting to see if FSU actually takes the three quarterbacks they now have pledged, it won’t matter to UF since they already have one, it’s just an interesting situation.
