Lawson withdraws Florida commitment

Recruiting has been nothing but positive for Florida but on Wednesday the Gators received some bad news.

Crestview (Fla.) Crestview High School linebacker Dillan Lawson opened up his recruitment and is no longer committed to the Gators.

This really isn’t news as it has long been rumored that Lawson would not be in this class due to off-the-field problems.

The news now gives Florida 17 verbal commitments for the Class of 2013.

The 6-foot-4, 215-pound Lawson said he is still considering Florida and will take visits this summer and fall.

“I’m still open to Florida,” Lawson said. “I just opened my recruitment back up. I’ll visit Alabama, LSU, Florida, Texas and Georgia.”

Lawson said he will visit Florida next Friday for Friday Night Lights.
