Linebacker Vosean Joseph (6-2, 210, Miami, FL Norland) committed to Florida in February but Saturday he made his first ever visit to Gainesville and he got the whole tour of everything the Gators have to offer.
“I had a great time on my visit,” Joseph said. “I got to see the academic part, I got to see the football facilities and meet everyone. I got to see practice and see how everything works out there. It was great.”
Joseph and his family were hoping that the trip was a good one and the Gators coaching staff definitely helped make the trip a successful one and left Joseph happy with his commitment.
“I felt at home there, I really made myself at home during the visit,” Joseph said. “They showed major love to me and the coaches really sold the program to me. I feel like I made the right decision for myself.”
During the visit on Saturday head coach Jim McElwain sat down with Joseph and his family and laid out his plan for the future.
“Coach McElwain sat me and my parents down and he told me that he was very glad to have me there and a part of the family,” Joseph said. “He told us that he was going to make big things happen for the program and get it back right. He made us feel right at home.”
Saturday was a very busy day because of all of the prospects that were on campus so Joseph only got a little bit of time with linebackers coach Randy Shannon and he left impressed by how Shannon coaches.
“I didn’t really get a lot of 1-on-1 time with coach Shannon but we got to sit in on his positional meeting,” Joseph said. “He told us that he recruits every year to make everyone better and I took that to heart because I’m trying to fight to get better and earn a spot. He doesn’t sugar coat things on the field, he’s going to let you know what you’re doing right or wrong.”
One of the highlights of the trip was Joseph getting to watch the Gators practice and the linebacker found out quickly that practice at Florida is different than high school practice.
“It was a very intense practice, the defense was amazing,” Joseph said. “Coach Shannon has a lot of energy out there. I didn’t see his linebackers making that many mistakes because he was coaching them hard.”
Now that Joseph has visited Florida and met with everyone he’s now turned his attention to recruiting other guys to join him in Gainesville.
“I’m still trying to recruiting Binjimen Victor, Emmett Rice and a few other guys,” Joseph said. “I’m still trying to get a few of teammates an offer because they’re underrated but they are awesome football players and they’re dedicated to football.”
INSIDERS TAKE: Saturday only helped the Gators commit become more solid then he was in the past. McElwain was telling Joseph that he sees him playing inside linebacker more than outside linebacker because of his athletic ability and ability to stop the run.
