Every Thursday Gator Country will run a high school preview of all of the current commits and a few of Florida’s biggest targets.
All games are on Friday unless otherwise noted.
American Heritage vs. Hallandale – Both teams come in sporting a 3-1 record as Hallandale suffered its first loss last week. This should be a great game as both defenses have been very stingy this year. Hallandale is led by Florida cornerback commit Willie Bailey.
North Marion vs. Bolles – The 23rd-ranked North Marion Colts will have their hands full as they face the undefeated and sixth-ranked Bolles Bulldogs. This game will be full of Division I talent as Florida wide receiver commit Latroy Pittman will line up for North Marion and Georgia offensive line commit John Theus will line up for Bolles.
Armwood vs. Jefferson – The No. 5 team in the nation, the Armwood Hawks, will put their undefeated record up against a struggling Jefferson team that is 1-2 on the year. This is another game full of top prospects, as Armwood has Florida commit Matt Jones and Jefferson has linebacker Tyriq McCord. Jones had a small workload last week in his return from a knee injury, but look for him to get more carries this week.
Boynton Beach vs. Olympic Heights – Boynton Beach comes in 2-2 on the year but is on a two-game winning streak. Florida offensive line commit Jessamen Dunker will look to lead his Boynton Beach offense against a below average Olympic Heights defense.
Lake Nona vs. Holy Trinity – Florida safety commit Marcus Maye will look to continue his dominance on the field as he leads his undefeated Holy Trinity team against Lake Nona.
Lehigh vs. Venice – Venice comes in 3-0 and ranked ninth in the state as they face the 1-3 Lehigh Lighting. Venice has been led so far by Florida defensive line commit Dante Phillips, and he will look to help Venice against a pretty good Lehigh defense.
Southeast vs. Manatee – This rivalry is going to be intense again this year as Southeast comes in 4-0 and ranked 19th in the state and Manatee comes in 1-2 ranked seventh in the state, having lost two games to nationally ranked teams this year. Manatee is led by quarterback Cord Sandberg, but he will have to go up against a top cornerback in Florida commit Brian Poole Jr.
St. Petersburg vs. Pinellas Park – This game pits two 3-1 teams against each other as Pinellas Park is led by Florida linebacker commit Jeremi Powell on defense.
Luella (GA) vs. Stephenson (GA) – Florida running back commit Mike Davis was named player of the week last week as he piled up 180 yards in the first half. Stephenson comes in 4-0 and ranked 13th in the state and Luella comes in 3-1 on the year.
Marist (GA) – Marist has a bye this week and is 4-1 on the year.
Sandy Creek (GA) vs. Eastside (GA) – Sandy Creek comes in on a 33-game winning streak and ranked fourth in the state and Eastside comes in 4-1 on the year. Florida commit Quinteze Williams has been having a good year on defense for Sandy Creek. The game will be played on Saturday.
Mallard Creek (NC) vs. Vance (NC) – Mallard Creek comes in 5-0 and ranked first in the state. This game should be an easy game as Vance has really struggled this season with a 1-5 record. Mallard Creek’s offense has been led by offensive lineman and Florida commit D.J. Humphries.
Crest (NC) vs. A.C. Reynolds (NC) – Crest has moved their record to 4-2 on the year and should get star defensive lineman Jonathan Bullard back this week from a hamstring injury.
Lincoln-Way East (IL) vs. Bolingbrook (IL) – Bolingbrook comes in ranked 10th in the state and will go up against the fifth-ranked Lincoln team as they both put up their perfect records. Florida linebacker commit Antonio Morrison is Bolingbrook’s star on defense. This is a big game that has decided the conference championship the last seven years.
Patterson (LA) vs. Berwick (LA) – Patterson’s defense has been great this year led by Florida linebacker commit Lorenzo Phillips. His stellar play should continue against Berwick, who is 0-4 on the year.
Glen Mills (PA) vs. Archbishop (PA) – Archbishop comes in 3-1 and ranked second in the state as they face a 1-3 Glen Mills team. Florida tight end commit Colin Thompson has been playing very well and has scored a touchdown in last two games. This game will be played on Saturday.
